ERCOT has no Move In, Move Out, Switch or CSA transactions for this ESI ID in the period searched.
The Last Key Date is the most recent non-empty Key Date ERCOT provides for that transaction process. It represents the market date associated with the latest applicable transaction message and may differ from the time ERCOT processed the message.
ERCOT ESIID Transaction Search FAQs
Learn how ERCOT, Texas delivery companies, and retail electric providers work together when an electric service location moves in, moves out, switches providers, or uses a Continuous Service Agreement.
What is a Continuous Service Agreement (CSA)?
A Continuous Service Agreement, or CSA, is an arrangement commonly used by property owners, landlords, property managers, and apartment communities to help keep electric service active between tenants.
When a tenant moves out, a CSA can allow electric service responsibility to transfer back to the property owner or management account instead of leaving the meter without an active retail electric provider. This helps reduce the risk of an unintended disconnection while the property is vacant.
What does a Move In transaction mean in ERCOT?
A Move In transaction is the electronic process used to establish electric service for a customer at a specific ESIID. The customer's retail electric provider sends the request through the ERCOT market system, and the local delivery company completes the service action for the meter.
The ERCOT transaction history can show when the request entered the market, how it progressed, and the key date associated with the service request.
What does a Move Out transaction mean?
A Move Out transaction tells the Texas retail electricity market that a customer's responsibility for electric service at an ESIID is ending. The retail electric provider submits the request through ERCOT, and the delivery company processes the service change at the meter.
If a CSA is active for the property, a Move Out may be followed by a CSA-related transaction so service can continue under the property owner's or manager's account.
What is an electric provider Switch in ERCOT?
A Switch is the market process used when a customer changes retail electric providers while remaining at the same service address. Unlike a Move In, the customer is generally not establishing new occupancy at the location; the provider serving the existing ESIID is changing.
ERCOT coordinates the electronic market transactions, while the local delivery company continues to own and operate the poles, wires, meter, and delivery infrastructure.
How do ERCOT, the delivery company, and the retail electric provider work together?
The retail electric provider handles the customer's electricity plan, enrollment, and billing relationship. ERCOT operates the central market systems that route and track standardized transactions between market participants. The local transmission and distribution utility, often called the delivery company or TDSP, operates the meter and electric delivery infrastructure for the service address.
For a Move In, Move Out, Switch, or CSA-related request, the retail electric provider sends the appropriate transaction into the ERCOT market. ERCOT routes and records the transaction, and the delivery company performs the applicable meter or service action.
What is an ESIID?
An ESIID, or Electric Service Identifier, is the unique identifier assigned to an electric service location in the Texas retail electricity market. It identifies the service point used by ERCOT, the delivery company, and retail electric providers when processing enrollment and service transactions.
What do the ERCOT Time Stamp and Key Date mean?
The ERCOT Time Stamp shows when a transaction was recorded or processed within the ERCOT market system. A single Move In, Move Out, Switch, or CSA process can contain several transaction messages, so this page shows both the first ERCOT Time Stamp and the most recent ERCOT Time Stamp available for that process.
The Key Date is the date associated with the underlying market action. Depending on the transaction type, it may relate to the requested or effective service date rather than the exact time the electronic message was exchanged.
Why can one ESIID have multiple Move In, Move Out, or Switch records?
An ESIID stays with the service location, not with a particular customer. Over time, the same address can have different occupants, providers, and service requests. That is why one ESIID may show multiple Move In, Move Out, Switch, CSA, or Move Out to CSA processes across its available ERCOT transaction history.
